Gathering for the Hunt - Wolves

The setting for the painting “Gathering for the Hunt – Wolves” is in the North woods near the boundary waters that separate the United States from Canada.  It is a typical scene of a pack of wolves gathering at dusk to go out for an evening hunt.  Looking at this painting you can almost sense the stillness of the wilderness as evening comes and one of the pack calls for the others to come.  As the sun fades away and the shadows from the birch trees get longer, the anticipation grows for the adventure to come. 

This original painting was done in acrylics on canvas.  It was chosen by the National Timber Wolf Alliance Great Lakes Region as print of the year for 2006 and is being used in educational material for young children all over the country as they learn about wolves and the wonder of nature.
