Unseen Challenges - Elk   Giclee Reproduction

Pat was commissioned to do this painting entitled “Unseen Challenges – Elk” to commemorate the Lewis & Clark 200th Anniversary.  This painting is of a herd of elk grazing on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River. The title of this painting was chosen for two reasons.  The first reason was in honor of Lewis & Clark’s accomplishment in the discovery of a pathway to the Western Ocean and to remind us of the unseen challenges they faced on their journey into the wilderness.  The second reason was because it represents the answering call of a challenge from a rival bull elk just over the next hill.  Often times in life as in nature, unknown challenges block your path.  It’s what you decide to do about it, fight or give up that makes you what you are.  This bull is rising to the occasion as he has many times before to fight to keep what is his.  The original painting is on permanent public display at the Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Nebraska City, NE.

This Giclee (zhee-KLAY) reproduction was produced from a high-resolution digital scan of the original painting.  Giclee reproductions are superior to traditional lithography in that the colors are brighter, last longer, and the details are crisper.
