River Discovery - Eagle   Giclee Reproduction

The painting “River Discovery – Eagle” was commissioned by the Lewis & Clark Foundation to commemorate the Lewis & Clark 200^th Anniversary.  This painting is of an eagle flying over the Missouri River.  The title was chosen specifically in honor of Lewis & Clark’s accomplishment in the journey they took up the Missouri River to unknown land in search of an all water route to the western ocean.  The Lewis & Clark expedition faced many challenges along the way.  The eagle in this painting has just caught a fish from the river.  He navigates over the river with ease.  This is in sharp contrast to the struggles the Lewis & Clark expedition faced in navigating the river and gathering their own food as they lived off the land as their supplies ran low. 

The original painting is on permanent public display at the Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Nebraska City, NE. 

This Giclee (zhee-KLAY) reproduction was produced from a high-resolution digital scan of the original painting.  Giclee reproductions are superior to traditional lithography in that the colors are brighter, last longer, and the details are crisper.
