The inspiration for the painting "High Country Heaven" came from a trip I took to the San Juan mountains in Colorado.  This is God's country and  to be here in the middle of the fall colors is truly breathtaking.  This is just where I want to be in the fall to enjoy to outdoors and hear the elk bugling.  This painting was chosen by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for 2010 and is on the cover of their merchandise catalogue.  If you are familiar with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation logo of a bugling elk, you can just make it out in the snow pattern in the far mountain range.
